Contact Lens Exams & Fittings

A contact lens exam assesses your prescription, tear film and eye health to help find lenses that fit comfortably and provide clear vision. We review your options and how to care for your lenses.

Optomap Retinal Imaging

Optomap takes a wide image of the retina—the light-sensitive tissue at the back of your eye. These images help the doctor look for changes and compare your eye health over time. Retinal imaging does not replace dilation when it is needed; the doctor will discuss which tests are appropriate for you.

Diabetic Eye Exams

Diabetes can damage blood vessels in the retina, sometimes without early symptoms. Regular diabetic eye exams help detect changes early so you and your medical team can plan care.

Dry Eye Care

Dry eye happens when your tears do not keep your eyes moist and comfortable. Your eyes may feel gritty, sting or burn, water more than usual, or become blurry. The doctor checks what may be causing your symptoms and discusses care to help your eyes feel more comfortable.

Cataracts

A cataract makes the clear lens inside your eye cloudy. You may notice blurry vision, glare from headlights, or trouble seeing at night. The doctor checks for cataracts, monitors changes and helps you understand when a consultation with a cataract surgeon may be appropriate.

Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration affects the part of your eye used for sharp, straight-ahead vision. It can make reading and recognizing faces harder, and straight lines may look wavy. The doctor checks for changes and discusses follow-up care or a specialist referral. If you notice new distortion or a sudden change in your vision, seek prompt eye care.

Eye Emergencies

Sudden vision loss, new flashes or floaters, or a curtain over your vision need urgent attention. Seek an eye doctor or emergency department right away. Call (973) 659-2048 for urgent care instructions.

Seasonal Eye Allergies

Seasonal eye allergies can cause itchy, red, watery or swollen eyes when pollen and other allergens trigger a reaction. The doctor can help identify the cause of your symptoms and discuss ways to relieve discomfort.
